Carlsbad Cavern National Park

Located in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Carlsbad Cavern is a preservation of caves within a Permian-age fossil reef. In fact, this particular national park consists of over 100 caves.
One of these is called the Lechuguilla Cave, which is the country's deepest limestone cave, going down 1,567 feet. In addition, the Lechuguilla Cave is the fourth longest cave in the nation.
Originally established as a way of preserving these magnificent caves, today this destination is visited by people around the world.
Considering the cavern is the world's largest area of underground chambers, the experience of seeing the formations is truly incredible.
